Each year, in late spring, the lower field down by the creek would be filled with little Alpine strawberries. Each year, we were sent to gather as many as we could so that mom and mamaw could make their blue ribbon strawberry jam. We would spend hours in that field after Saturday morning cartoons collecting those tiny strawberries into old country crock butter tubs. As a treat, the ladies would always make a large pitcher of freshly squeezed lemonade with some of the little strawberries crushed up in it. We would all sit under the shade of the big white pine and take just a moment before the work began.
This aromatic bath soak of Dead Sea, Epsom, and Himalayan salts, extractions of calendula and violet, almond oil, lemon peel, herbs, and essential oils might just tempt the user into wanting to drink the water. Please don't. But do sit back in your tub, relax, and envision a late spring day in Appalachia, barefoot amongst the Alpine strawberries.
